Homeland was set up as a refuge
for the songs of Mikael Carlsson in Malmö, Sweden. Homeland is
always Mikael Carlsson and associates who tend to come and go
with the passage of time.
In 1994 Mikael was invited to play guitar in Barbie Loves Ken,
which was fronted by Ola Lundin on guitar and vocals. The two
teamed up and later formed Ogden Flood, a rock-combo heavily
influenced by the slack rock of Pavement and Archers of Loaf.
Ogden Flood recorded several jam sessions and demos with drummer
Johan Dahlbeck before they parted their ways for individual
soloprojects. Ola went off with Dustin Diamond and Mikael with
Royal Cassette, which soon became Homeland in 1998.
In 1999 the debut album "Songs About Living" is released on
Grace Recordings. Mikael also joins the band David & the
Citizens playing bass, then swiching to drums, and tours and
records albums intensively until 2006 when the band reforms.
Mikael leaves the band. During the time with the Citizens
Homeland takes the opportunity to tour Sweden with Richard
Buckner, and playing local shows alongside the Microphones, My
Morning Jacket, Halifax Pier and more. In 2004 the Australian
label Cumbersome Records decides to re-release Songs About
Living. Mikael also played an important role in local acts such
as Motel North, The Following Sea and Happy Go Lucky. The
Homelandhome music factory is always producing new Homeland
material as well as other fine local artists.
Summer 2008 Homeland released a digital Ep on 23 seconds
netlabel, available for free. Please visit
