Henrik Thomé about the video:
It was partly filmed early 2008 in studio and in central
Stockholm, and partly January 2009 in India.
I was visiting Hyderabad on a business trip last week, and had
the opportunity to join an NGO for a few days as they visited
poor dalit (untouchable) villages in the states of Andrah
Pradesh and Karnataka. The mission of the NGO is to fight
superstition which is a great problem among the poor.
The girl school in the video is in a village where a woman was
murdered a couple of months ago, accused of performing black
magic, and accused of being a witch. A “magic show” was
performed in the girl school by a magician employed by the NGO,
with the objective of teaching the children that science and not
magic - is the explanation of the common tricks that “holy men”
visiting the villages perform. I.e. the objective is to make the
villagers less vulnerable to scams, and to lessen the level of
superstition.
I will be publishing video about this spectacular and important
anti-superstition work later, as well as a video about the
horrible killing of this woman.
At the end of the video their is an appeal to support this work
by adopting a dalit village in India
